“Capturing Your Stories in Time!”

Welcome

The Collection of Poetry of Paul Laurence Dunbar  by Joanne M. Braxton

“When De Co’n Pone’s Hot,” by Paul Laurence Dunbar was one of the many poems I loved hearing my mother read in its original dialect.  I wanted to preserve the sound of her voice and the expressions on her face for my two children.  I wanted to capture those memories for them.  I asked her if  I could videotape her and she agreed.    The day of her funeral, my oldest niece hugged me and said, “Thanks, Aunt Subrina for creating a videotape of Grandma.”

Whether it’s through writing your own memoirs, audio taping them, videotaping oral histories, creating memory-books, a memory quilt, or heirloom cookbooks, it’s important that you record your stories and your recollections.  Take the time to capture your wonderful personal memories

A Gift of Memories Production specializes in the production of  oral history and reunion videos.

When De Co’n Pone’s Hot

Dey is times in life when Nature

    Seems to slip a cog an’ go

Jes’ a-rattlin’ down creation,

    Lak an ocean’s overflow;

When de worl’ jes’ stahts a spinin

    Lak a picaninny’s top,

An’ yo’ cup o’ joy is brimmin’

    “Twell it seems about to slp,

An’ you feel jes’ lak a racah,

    Dat is trainin fu’ to trot-

When yo’ manny says de blessin’

    An’ de co’n pone’s hot.
