Aunt Minnie is really 99 years old!
Oral Histories
Minnie S. Evans
In April 2003, I had the privilege of
videotaping my great aunt, Minnie
Stewart Evans. During the interview,
she stated that she was born in 1910,
which would have made her 93 at the
time.
In 2007, I produced a photomontage
of the Stewart Family Reunion which
included photos of the 1910 and 1930 Census. There on the 1910 Census
appeared Aunt Minnie’s name along with the names of her parents, Hillary and Larcenia Stewart, eleven of her twenty siblings, her maternal grandmother, Miley Stewart, and two of her aunts. Aunt Minnie’s age was stated as two on the Census, which would have made her 95 in 2003 and 99 today.
One of my second cousins learned from watching Aunt Minnie’s videos that she had three Uncles that she never, ever knew existed.
